What is Strain Imaging and why is it used with an Echocardiogram?

Our office is the only Ultrasound office in El Paso offering Strain Imaging.

What is Strain Imaging?

Strain Imaging is a special tissue tracking technology that is used to evaluate subtle changes in the function of the myocardium, which is the muscular tissue of the heart. Strain imaging is useful in the evaluation of cardiac function for cardiotoxicity, damage to the heart caused by cancer drugs and treatment, in patients receiving potentially cardiotoxic chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Strain imaging is also useful in evaluating cardiomyopathies or heart failure.
